Male Dominance\ title=74

Male Dominance

It's possible to argue that if someone is raised in a culture that expects male dominance, they will not be happy in a marriage that does not exhibit that dynamic. I guess I'm even willing to stipulate that this may be true: if you are unable to escape your conditioning, perhaps you will have prejudices of that kind. But is that absolute? Are we doomed to forever repeat the social norms of the past?

Diamonds are just hard little rocks\ title=67

Diamonds are just hard little rocks

I'm not knocking diamonds. If you like such things and have the money to indulge in a collection of expensive minerals, adorn yourself with as many as you can afford. Sport them on every finger, dangle them from your ears, even carry them in your pockets if you want. They can be pretty and supposedly can be a good investment (though I have my doubts about that).

Walking Backwards

I have to tell you this. After four and a half decades, she still makes me melt sometimes. I mean sometimes I just see her face and I get all gooey inside and I just have to go kiss her and hug her. I know, I know: I'm lucky. I'm most lucky that she says she gets the same feelings.

Who's a pretty girl?\ title=68

Who's a pretty girl?

Before I get too syrupy, let me assure you that we have disagreements and fights like anyone else. We are both emotional people by heritage; she is half Italian and I am half French Canadian. We can get boiling mad and very loud. Life's tensions and problems can make people grumpy and testy and we are as affected by that as anyone is.

It almost felt like Christmas\ title=61

It almost felt like Christmas

We were half an hour early, but it seemed so were many other people. As we drove closer, we realized that a knot of people standing in the lot were our camp friends, some of them people we have known for twenty years. We've kept in touch by email with many of them, but haven't seen most in the years since we sold our trailer and left. We parked the car and walked toward them.. somebody spotted us and heads turned and there were outstretched arms. We joined the group, hugging and kissing everyone

The Lady Wants to Dance! Don't leave her sitting there!\ title=64

The Lady Wants to Dance! Don't leave her sitting there!

The lady wants to dance. Her companion, however, is sitting stolidly, apparently oblivious to what you and anyone else can plainly see. He can't be that clueless, that unaware, can he? He sees her. He sess that she is swaying or bouncing or tapping time with her feet. He sees how her gaze keeps going back to the floor; can he really not understand that she wants to dance?
