Analytics can actually do so much more. For example, did you know that it is easy to track outgoing links and have them appear in your Analytics reports? You might have affiliate links in your pages. You will know if people actually buy, of course, but how many clicked and did not buy? Analytics can tell you that if you simply add a little bit of code to your link.

Because of our habits, we tend to treat web fiction as we would any other page we find on the web - our tendency is to scan rather than read. Of course we can force ourselves to read; my point is that our habits lead us into the other behavior. There is also the not so small matter of distractions - the web pages are full of ads and links. If you are presenting this on your own site, you could strip out all that, but then you have no chance of making money at all - you might as well go to a van

My family was always what you'd call a "reading family". Two parents, three children and a few thousand books.
