Turning Fifty
68No, I'm not turning fifty; the water went by that bridge more than a decade ago. No, what I mean is that this is my fiftieth post at HubPages.
I first put text into a capsule at HubPages just 19 days ago. This is truly awful, but I cannot recall what or who brought me here. Did I come across it in Google while searching for something? Was it someones Twitter tweet that brought me? I do not remember, and I'm a bit sad that I do not.
Whatever it was, I love this place. I have not made a single post at my main website since arriving here. Oh, I will: that's my bread and butter and, at least so far, HubPages is just for fun. I can't say I haven't made a dime from it, because I have made that much and more, but it's just coffee money. I'm here because I'm enjoying it, not because it is filling my bank account.
I like the freedom to write about anything. At my business site, I have sometimes snuck in an odd post or two, but it is mostly constrained to specific subjects. That constraint is as it should be. The only reason that I did sometimes drop in something that really doesn't fit was that I had no good place to put it, but still wanted to say it. Now I do have a place, and it's a darn good place!
I love the community here. I have community at my site, but it's smaller and mostly focused on those specific topics that belong there. The community here is larger and interested in many more subjects. The forums are fun and the Question and Answer section, though sometimes crossing into the surreal, can also be fun and interesting.
I really enjoy reading other Hubbers here. I am in awe of some, and enjoy others. There are a lot of very interesting writers at HubPages and I am very happy to be able to read them. I'm sure I have only scratched the surface; there are many more here I have just not discovered yet. It's going to be fun!
So: fifty posts. Will I do one hundred? Yeah, I suspect I am very likely to just keep on trucking. Will I continue at the same multiple post per day pace? Well, yes, if I am not busy with something else. I enjoy writing, I have genuine fun doing it, why wouldn't I keep churning out more?
Whatever it was that brought me here, I am glad that it did. I think I'll be settling in.
I did settle in. After 8 weeks, I have 102 posts and am very committed to HubPages.
The most surprising thing to me has been how quickly it has started earning money. No, not a lot: $18 in the first two months. But I have tried starting up other sites before and they haven't earned more than a few dollars after many months of promotions. My main site makes good money, but that's been up and running for thirteen years - it really surprised me that HubPages did so well so quickly.
If you like to write, you might think about joining me here.

Whatever brought you here, I am glad you found Hubpages for the selfish reason that I enjoy reading what you write!
There is a question-if you put it in a capsule 19days before you published it,did it make any bad effect on your scores for this particular one?
Welcome to hubpages and it doesn't matter how you get here, just enjoy your time. 50 hubs already, I need to do a lot more!
I am currently unemployed with a lot of family drama going on at the moment. Am managing average of 1 per day at moment (at expense of the housework). Hope to write at least 1 -2 a week. I see on your other hub you have written over 7000 articles!!!
50 Hubs in 3 weeks is an amazing figure.. Keep rocking!
